Troy and the library stamp of Charles College, Cantonsville, Md. on the title-page and front pastedown.  Good sound copy, partically priced.


Nicely printed and catalogued of a gentleman’s library especially strong in English and American history and literature, with an emphasis on the great books and writers of western civilization.  As with many collections formed in this period there is long run of titles by T. F. Dibdin and a significant collection of encyclopedias, grammars, and a good run of editions of Shakespeare.  In the introduction written by the cataloguer Lawrence Rhoades of Newport, he writes that the “the library is particularly rich in books of prints and other works which contain engravings by celebrated engravers . . .”
