8vo.  185 x 120 mm., [7 1/4 x 4 3/4 inches].  100, [iv] pp.  Illustrated throughout with wood engravins.  Brown publisher's cloth, title gilt on spine.  Cloth somewhat faded and worn, text block partially loose in binding.

First edition.  Post Civil War book of poems, many of which highlight the lives of Confederate soldiers and leaders, including R. E. Lee, Jefferson Davis, Stonewall Jackson, and Andrew Johnson .  Some are of a religious nature, and a few deign humor.  The impact of the poems reflect a meloncholy for a civilization that have been lost.    The wood engravings are mostly stock vignettes and show skill but little imagination.
