Otherwise, in excellent condition. First Edition. Cecil Roberts (1892-1976) was a British journalist, novelist and writer. In 1920, at the age of twenty-eight, he took over the editorship of the Nottingham Journal making him the youngest ever editor of a morning newspaper in Britain. Two years later he wrote his first novel. He would go on to publish a total of thirty novels in his lifetime in addition to works of poetry, biography and travel writing. It is to this last category that the present work belongs. The third in a series that includes And So To Bath (1940) and And So To America (1946), this is a narrative account of two-thousand years of Roman history covering the great people and events that shaped the eternal city.
