Advanced Reading Copy of the First Edition. Christopher Castellani (b. 1972) is an American novelist and essayist currently Writer-in-Residence at Brandeis University. Born in Willmington, Delaware to Italian immigrants, his writing explores themes of family, religion and the immigrant experience. The Saint of Lost Things is his second novel following A Kiss from Maddalena (2003) and begins the story of the Grasso family which he would continue in his third novel All This Talk of Love (2013). The book is set in Wilmington in the 1950s and focuses on the nascent Italian immigrant community there which gathers around the town’s Catholic church which is dedicated to Saint Anthony, the patron saint of lost things.
