Bound in Contemporary mottled calf, four raised bands; some minor rubbed to the binding, otherwise very good. Paper stock brown with ages, a few preliminary leaves cracked at edges; otherwise very good. This copy of the Bible from the Griffiths Burns Family of Lancaster County, Pa., with manuscript entries on the Family Record page and pasted death notices of family members. Also included is a letter from Aunt Elizabeth to Jane dated 1853. Elizabeth made a gift of the Bible to Jane and in the letter she offers Jane spiritual guidance and love. There is also a ribbon with a text reading “My Bible” stitched in red thread. One of many editions of the Kimber and Sharpless edition, this copy illustrated with only to wood engravings, but beautifully bound and preserved in full mottled calf.
