Nice private library of a little known collector, focusing on Italian history and literature, with a number of early theological works cited. The collection includes “Specimens of early typography, theology, the classics, numerous works on theological controversy, and relating to the Jesuits; Rare and curious tracts, poetry, the drama, facetiae; Books in various Italian dialects, works on Bibliography, etc. etc.” The collection 380 lots, arranged alphabetically, some with annotations. Although this copy shows no signs of ownership, it does contain checkmarks next to a number of lots, suggesting the list was used as a guide of some kind, either as want list or checklist for an established collection.
