Rare anonymously written nine stanza tribute to Francesco Orlando for a balloon flight in the central Garden of Bologna in 1839. Orlandi interest in flight was first recorded in 1825 when he made his first balloon trip and a description of his voyage was published in a printed notice in Bologna. Over the next two decades Orlandi continued to develop his skills and modify the design of his craft so it could make longer and higher flights. He constructed balloons for other aviators and published descriptions of his work and design.
