He begins with a chapter on the composition of paint, made up of pigments, oil, turpentine, and driers. The book continues with hints on mixing, the equipment required to create a proper mix, and proportions of materials used to create different viscosity for different surfaces.  This is followed by a series of chapters on specific colors, including whites, greys, red, blues, yellows, browns, and greens.  Specific recipes are included for the various grades and tonal quality desired and the methods for achieving the best results.  The 72 samples color chips are approximately 1 ½ x ¾ inches and are in excellent condition.
