First American Edition, originally published in Milan by Aldo Grazanti in 1955.  Coming of age story of a young man feeling the first signs of manhood.  With the eye of a cinematographer, Soldati captures the confusion and urges of youth and the hypocritical taboos which society places on the behavior of young people.  In 1956 Soldati won the prestigious Strega Prize for his novel The Capri Letters.
